The Oct. 20 meeting of the Peachtree City Council will include a request to extend the annexation process by the Heritage of Peachtree City assisted living facility and minor revisions to the city’s SPLOST (special purpose local option sales tax) list, which is expected to be on a special election ballot in March.
The Heritage assisted living facility is asking for an extension to the Step One annexation approval received in October 2014.
Planning and Development Director Mike Warrix said the approval for the facility on Ga. Highway 54 East expired. The applicant is requesting a 6-month extension to complete the required Step Two portion of the annexation process.
Warrix said Heritage expects to have the next phase ready for review in December.
Pertaining to the upcoming SPLOST vote in March, the Fayette County Commission recently approved a 6-year SPLOST period which did not include funding for a performing arts center.
City manager Jon Rorie said city staff is finalizing the recommendation for the additional year of funding, which would include an additional year of path and street paving, and the re-allocation of the prior $2.5 million the city included on its list for the arts center.
