Peachtree City police are searching for a man who robbed the Walgreens store on Ga. Highway 54 East and Peachtree Parkway Tuesday morning after threatening the pharmacist with a handgun. Officers were unable to locate the man after an extensive search.

Department spokesman Mark Brown said the robbery occurred at 11:05 a.m. when a black man in his 20s and wearing a hooded sweatshirt, jeans and a white baseball cap entered the Walgreens Pharmacy and presented a note to the pharmacist demanding several prescription medications.

“During the robbery, the suspect entered the pharmacy area and threatened pharmacists with a handgun,” said Brown. “The suspect fled through the front door of the location and ran towards Peachtree Parkway. Officers conducted an extensive search of the area and were unable to locate the offender.”

The man was initially seen running eastbound toward the Glenloch area. Staff at Booth Middle School and Huddleston Elementary School locked the front doors to the schools for a short period of time subsequent to the robbery, said school system spokesperson Melinda Berry-Dreisbach.
