The Fayette County Board of Commissioners approved the new millage rate for the coming year, a full rollback, with one opposing vote.
The board convened Sept. 1 for a special called meeting that lasted seven minutes.
Commissioner Charles Rousseau (Democrat-District 4) voted against the proposed millage rate without comment.
The only comment of any kind was from Commissioner Steve Brown (Republican-District 3), who said he was in favor of the direction the millage rate was going although he has problems with the county budget and is worried about “future years” with the direction it is taking.
The general fund’s maintenance and operations millage rate is now 4.917 mills, a decrease of nearly five percent from last year’s 5.171. The millage rates for fire services (3.070), EMS services (0.456 mills) and E-911 services (0.210 mills) are unchanged.
