The Fayette County Civitan Club presented a check for $5,200 to Joseph Sams School during its Aug. 11 regular meeting. The check was accepted by school executive director Amy Murray.

“It was a perfect fit for the mission of the Fayette County Civitan Club – supporting organizations that serve members of our community with developmental needs,” according to a spokesperson. “The Joseph Sams School is doing a wonderful work of training students with developmental needs to be productive citizens of Fayette County.”

The Civitan Club has numerous fundraisers throughout the year, including the Vidalia onion sale, Georgia pecan sale, Old Courthouse 5k Road Race, and the Civitan Discount Dining Card sale. All proceeds from these events go back to the community.
