Eleanor Fredriksen passed away peacefully at home on August 7, 2016 with her daughter at her side.

She is survived by her son Kenneth of New Jersey, her daughter Jean Ellen Hornberger, son-in-law Andy, and four grandchildren, Samuel, Luke, Megan, and Derek, all of Georgia.

She was predeceased by her son Paul and her husband Russell.

Eleanor was born November 4, 1930 in Luzerne County, Pa., the only child of Stephen and Mary (Williams) Jones. She later moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. where she spent her teen years. She met her husband Russell at New York’s Calvary Baptist Church in Manhattan. After their marriage, the couple moved to Waldwick, N.J., where they raised their three children.

Eleanor and Russ were both committed followers of Jesus Christ, and both enjoyed the fellowship of other believers at Pascack Bible Church in Hillsdale, N.J. They hosted a small group Bible study in their home, and even in her later years, Eleanor often took opportunities to share her faith in Christ with others.

In 2013, Russell and Eleanor moved south to Peachtree City, Ga., and made their home at Somerby of Peachtree City, an assisted living facility. They enjoyed their community there, and Eleanor even gained her 15 minutes of fame when a video of her and a friend dancing the Nae Nae went viral on Facebook, garnering over 30 million views.

Shortly before her death, Eleanor moved into the home of her daughter Jean Ellen in Fayetteville, Ga.

Arrangements are through SouthCare, and an informal open house of friends and family will be held at the residence of her daughter, Jean Ellen Hornberger from 1 to 5 on Saturday, August 13.
