In response to Pepper Adams’ letter refuting the theory of evolution: It’s impossible to change someone’s mind on beliefs no matter how many facts you present, so I won’t attempt to do that here.
What I will do is to suggest that anyone who doubts evolution read the book “Why Evolution is True” by Jerry Coyne.
Mr. Adams’ statement that scientists “stomp their feet and insist that there are NO problems with Darwin’s theory” is farcical. I don’t know any scientists who either stomp their feet about this nor who claim the theory is perfect. It isn’t. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a valid.
It reliably accounts for observations and accurately predicts future events (anyone who owns a dog can be thankful that it is no longer a wolf).
And speaking of dogs, I have no dog in this fight. I personally do not care if Mr. Adams or anyone else believes in Mr. Darwin’s theory or not.
But I do believe in people making informed decisions and I think that most people who read this book will see the validity of the theory.
