Slow-moving traffic, along with traffic at a stand still, is nothing new in Peachtree City. When it comes to traffic accidents, it should be no surprise that the top 10 crash sites are on Ga. highways 54 and 74.
A July report by the Peachtree City Police Department showed the top 10 locations so far this year have been the site of 149 traffic accidents.
Those locations are all along Hwy. 54 and Hwy. 74, according to police records.
Not surprisingly, the top site is at the intersection of highways 54 and 74 where a total of 35 accidents have occurred year-to-date.
Second on the list with 19 accidents is the intersection of Hwy. 54 East and Peachtree Parkway.
Tied for third place with 18 accidents each are the intersections of Hwy. 54 West and Planterra Way and the intersection of Hwy. 54 West and Huddleston Road.
Next on the list is the intersection of Hwy. 74 South and Crosstown Drive/TDK Boulevard with 15 accidents.
Hwy. 74 North at Kedron Drive and Hwy. 54 at Line Creek Drive had nine accidents each while the intersection at Hwy. 74 South and Rockaway Road saw eight accidents and the intersection of Hwy. 54 West and MacDuff Parkway had six.
So far this year there have been 407 traffic accidents across the city. That compares to 412 accidents for the same time period in 2015.
