Some of our neighbors seem to be starting the July 4 celebrations early.
Peachtree City officials this week reminded residents that Georgia law changed again this year related to the use of consumer fireworks (small fireworks designed to produce visible or audible effects by combustion, including Roman candles). The new rules include the following:
No consumer fireworks can be used in any public road or right-of-way.
No consumer fireworks can be used before 10 a.m. or after 9 p.m. (except until midnight on July 3 and 4 and until 1 a.m. on New Year’s Eve/Day).
No consumer fireworks are allowed in any public park.
No person can use fireworks while impaired by drugs or alcohol.
Only those 18 and older can ignite or possess consumer fireworks (16 and 17 year olds may possess or transport if working for a licensed fireworks distributer).
Report the illegal use of consumer fireworks to the non-emergency number for Fayette County Communications (770-461-HELP).
