Fayette County’s Fellowship of Love Church hosted its first Love Songs Concert last weekend on the square in Fayetteville.

“The community enjoyed an evening of pop, jazz, R & B, and a soulful mix – all in the name of love,” according to a spokesperson.

The free event culminated the church’s eighth birthday celebration.

Since its inception, the church has been committed to giving 10% of its income back to the community to empower local schools and community nonprofit organizations and has reportedly given more than $300,000 to date.

At the concert Pastor BaSean Jackson, the church’s founder, presented a $4,000 check to Christine Snell, director of the Fayette County Library, and Arlys Ferrell, president of Friends of the Fayette County Library, for some much needed upgrades. Board of Commissioners Chairman Charles Oddo and Mayor Edward Johnson witnessed the presentation of this empowerment donation.

Community members enjoyed live music and vocal performances. There was lots of dancing, laughter and fellowship.
