Rolling Hills Baptist Church conducted Vacation Bible School last week for the families residing in Marnelle Mobile Home Park on Ga. Highway 54 in Fayetteville.
Approximately 21 children in kindergarten through fifth grade participated in the four-day program that included Bible study, crafts, recreation, and musical worship. The program concluded with a Family Fun Night for youth and adults of all ages.
Residents were treated to a cookout dinner, while the youth participated in a number of carnival type game booths where they played for prize tickets that could be ultimately exchanged for gifts.
This is the sixth year since selling its building and property that Rolling Hills has conducted VBS at Marnelle.
“We used to do VBS in our building before we sold it, but we found that most of the children who attended were from our own congregation,” explained Senior Pastor Frank Mercer. “We weren’t really reaching anyone outside of our walls. Now we have the opportunity to bring Bible school out into the community to those who may not normally have the opportunity to participate.”
Rolling Hills sold its building and property in March of 2010 in order to devote more resources to missions. Since then the congregation has been worshiping in a movie theater. They worship on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. at the NCG Cinemas at Fischer Crossings in Sharpsburg.
