Mr. Henry Hegetschweiler, of Peachtree City, Ga. died peacefully on May 23, 2016 at 10:30am, only months short of his 95th birthday, after a short illness. Henry was born and educated in Zurich, Switzerland and served at the end of the Second World War in the Swiss Infantry.
In 1948 Henry and his wife, Vlasta immigrated to the United Stated and settled in Schenectady, N.Y. where he worked for General Electric, first as an engineer and later, as a very successful sales agent in the Steam Turbines Department. Henry was a member of Mohawk Golf Club and Tri City Swiss Society in Schenectady as well as Swiss Society of Atlanta.
After his wife’s death, Henry moved from New York to Georgia, to be close to his nephew, Edward Mikulcik and his family. The last several years Henry resided at Arbor Terrace, first in independent living and later in assisted living.
He is survived by his sister, Elisabeth Drevikovsky of Australia; his brother-in-law, Harry Coton of Lakeland Fla.; two sisters-in-law in Zurich, Switzerland; and several nephews and nieces in Peachtree City, Georgia, Sydney, Australia, and Zurich, Switzerland.
A Celebration of Life Service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Arbor Terrace, 201 Crosstown Drive, Peachtree City, GA 30269. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Henry’s memory to the Fayette Samaritans.
