Mrs. Sarah Virginia Williams, known to her friends and family as Jeana, was born in Birmingham, Ala. in 1922 the youngest of three children. She attended Woodlawn High School and graduated in 1940. After High School she attended Alabama Polytechnical Institute (Auburn University) from 1940 until 1942 studying home economics. In 1943 she enlisted in the United States Army, (Women’s Army Corp) received her basic training at Fort Oglethorpe, Ga. and served at Merced Army Airfield in California as Surgical Technician until 1945. After World War II she worked as a Medical Assistant in Birmingham, Ala. until 1947 when she became a stewardess for Delta Air Lines, where she met her husband, the late Captain Charles J. Williams of East Point, Ga.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.D. Gammage of Birmingham, Ala., a sister, Elnora King of Montgomery, Ala., and a brother, Davis M. Gammage of Birmingham, Ala.
She is survived by two sons, Calvin S. Williams and daughter in-law, Karen L. Williams of Fayetteville, Georgia and Charles M Williams of Fayetteville, two grandsons, Charles Wesley Williams and wife, Susan of Marietta, Ga. and David P. Davidson and wife, Kimberley of Indian Hill, S. C. She is also survived by four great grandchildren, Charles and Reese Williams of Marietta and Luke and Grady Davidson of Indian Hill, S. C.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Westview Cemetery with Dr. Jimmy Orr officiating. Those wishing may sign the online guestbook at www.parrottfuneralhome.com.
