The Fayetteville Police Department’s 14th Annual Junior Police Academy is now accepting applications.

The JPA starts Monday, July 18, and runs through Friday, July 22. Applications are due by June 1. The academy will run each day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Recruits gain hands-on knowledge about police work every day by participating in activities such as vehicle stops, crime scene processing, physical fitness, defensive tactics, confidence enhancing challenges and team building skills. All activities are taught by veteran police officers.

Eligible recruits must have completed sixth grade and the enrollment is open to recruits up to tenth grade. All must have a “C” average scholastically.

Applications can be picked up at the Fayetteville Police Department, Bennett’s Mill Middle School or through any Fayette County School Resource Officer. Applications must be turned in by June 1 to the Fayetteville Police Department. If you have any questions, phone Detective Scott Israel at 770-719-4223.
