James Thomas “Jack” Roberts, 86, of Peachtree City passed away April 21, 2016.

He was an extraordinary athlete. He was All State and in the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame for football, baseball, basketball and track. In 2008 Gainesville High School retired his jersey in an emotional ceremony. Jack played football and was All-Southeastern Conference in baseball at the University of Georgia prior to graduating in 1952. He loved his Dawgs and continued to be a strong supporter and fan. His best sport was baseball. He was drafted into the St. Louis Cardinals organization and also played for the Atlanta Crackers. He served in the USAF from 1956 to 1958. He was an excellent golfer and was so proud when he qualified for his senior PGA card. One of Jack’s greatest joys in life was driving his grandchildren around the cow pasture at the farm in Gay, GA. Jack had his masters in education and taught building and construction at Jonesboro High School. Together with his wife Mary Ann, he owned and operated Little Ones Day Care for many years. He was known to many as an outstanding athlete, coach, teacher and friend. He will be greatly missed.

Jack is predeceased by his wife Mary Ann Roberts, and son Leon Kidd.

He is survived by his daughter Debbie (Frank) Butler; sons Jimmy (Lisa) Roberts and Robyn (Christi) Roberts; daughter-in-law Grace Kidd; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters Vivian Keling and Carol (Bob) Landers; and many nieces and nephews.
