Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will host the 13th annual Holocaust Remembrance Service, Yom Ha’Shoah, on Sunday, May 1, at 1:30 p.m.
Congregation B’Nai Israel in Fayetteville is the partner in planning and leading this service.
Included will be 11 readings accompanying the lighting of 11 candles, one for each of the 11 million who died in the Holocaust (6 million Jews and 5 million Roma, homosexuals, and others).
Singers from both congregations will form a choir, and the COS Flute Choir will play.
The Shema, Veahavta, and Kaddish will all be spoken, along with scripture readings. The congregation will join in singing songs of praise from scripture. Far from morbid, the tone is reflective and inspirational.
A light lunch will be served in Fellowship Hall beginning at 12:15 p.m., and a reception will follow the service.
All are invited to this service. The church is at the corner of Highway 54 and Peachtree Parkway.
