Walter David Ellington, 70, of Fayetteville, passed away April 3, 2016.
David was born March 28, 1946, in Atlanta, Ga. to W.C. (Top) Ellington and Alma Lowe Ellington. He grew up in Hapeville, Ga. David served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era and retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 33 years. He was a member of the Riverdale Masonic Lodge, #709.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
David is survived by his wife of 47 years Kathy Ward Ellington; sons Steven David Ellington and his wife Krista of McDonough, Ga., and Timothy Scott Ellington of Morrow, Ga.; grandchildren Brittany Roxanne and Carson Roberts Ellington, Christopher Scott and Camryn Elizabeth Fields; sisters Diane Simmons of Norcross, Ga., and Donna Ellington of Hapeville, Ga.; several nephews and a niece.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 7, 2016, at 1 p.m., at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor Ed Sherwood officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 6, 2016, from 5 – 8 p.m. and Thursday, April 7 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
