The Fayette County Public Library invites the public to join local author S.C. Lauren Saturday, April 2, between noon and 4 p.m. to celebrate the release of her third novel, “Pirate III: A Shift in the Tides.”

Copies of the book will be available for sale during the open-house event, with a portion of the proceeds designated to benefit the Friends of the Fayette County Public Library. The event is free and open to the public. Guests can enjoy free refreshments and a chance to meet the author in a fun party atmosphere.

Third in a series of swashbuckling adventure tales for adults and teens, “Pirate III: A Shift in the Tides” continues the saga of the Black Dragons, a pirate crew operating in the fictional kingdom of Kirkston. Captain Smith has been shot and is fighting for his life, leaving the crew temporarily under the command of his first mate, Snake. Snake struggles to hold the crew together while dealing with all sorts of challenges. Blossoming romances, Irish stowaways, and a plot to overthrow the Kirkston government — can Snake pull the crew together, or will Smith awaken to his team in turmoil?

A lifelong resident of Brooks, S.C. Lauren had already published the first book in the series, “Pirate: The Unkindly Gentlemen,” by the time she graduated from Whitewater High School in 2010. “Pirate II: Ace of Spades” came out two years later, while she was working on her bachelor’s degree in English from Gordon State College. Now working as a full-time writer and editor, Lauren lives in Brooks with her husband and son.

The Fayette County Public Library is located behind the Fayette County administrative complex in downtown Fayetteville, at the southwest corner of Highways 85 and 54.  For additional information, contact the library at 770-461-8841.
