Mrs. Rose M. (Casella) Palombo, formerly of Fayetteville, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in Care One at Lexington. She was 91.
Rose was born June 3, 1924 in Waltham, Mass. a daughter of Italian immigrants Luigi and Carmella (Repisardi) Casella. Raised and educated in Waltham she graduated from Waltham High School. She was married to the late Francis ‘Frank’ Palombo who died in 1996. The couple lived in Fayetteville, Ga. for over 30 years.
Rose had worked as a clerk for JC Penney Outlet Store in Forest Park, Ga. for many years. She was a member of the ‘Penney Loafers’ retiree group and enjoyed its monthly social gatherings. Rose enjoyed animals but especially dogs and cats.
In addition to her husband, Frank, she is predeceased by their only son Peter Palombo who died in 2007 and her siblings, Joseph Casella, Mary Lucas, Ida Welch, Angelina McLellan, James, Salvatore and Carmello ‘Cam’ Casella.
She leaves her brothers, Frank Casella and his wife, Louise of Waltham and Louis Casella and his wife, Mary of Townsend; her sister-in-law, Matilda Casella of Waltham and her brother-in-law, William Welch; also survived by many nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Rose’s life by gathering on Saturday, March 19th at 11 a.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham where her funeral service will be held at 12 noon. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City, Ga.
