Roy Marvin Strickland, 76, of Fayetteville passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016.
He was born on March 15, 1939 in Scottdale, Ga. to Roy and Eva Strickland. Roy was honorably discharged from the National Guard. Roy was a 50 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 613. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a two-year President of the Alkuwa Shrine Unit. He loved to race go-carts. He also was a member of Harps Crossing Baptist Church in Fayetteville.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Priscilla Pelot Strickland, and his parents. He is survived by his sons, David Lyle (Lisa), Paul Lyle (Yvonne), Stephen Lyle (Kim) and Andrew Lyle (Christi); nine grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Walker Pelot (Sue); and his long-time friend for 60 years, Mary Richardson.
His funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Harps Crossing Baptist Church, with Pastor Dennis Watson officiating. Burial immediately followed the service at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. The family received friends from 5-7p.m. on Sunday, February 28, 2016.
