Peachtree City United Methodist Church (PTCUMC) is gearing up for its 3rd annual Global Impact Celebration, a major event for the church, which starts Friday, Feb. 26.

The three day missions conference is led by Dr. Quincy Brown, executive pastor and the GIC planning team.

“This is a life-changing experience for those who attend and also a chance to learn more about the mission partners we are teamed with for this season” Brown said. “Since its inception in February of 2014, the event has created a huge surge in mission support and participation from the members of PTCUMC, going from approximately $80,000 given in total for the year 2013 to over $844,177 from inception of Faith Promise in February of 2014 through January 31, 2016. As God is providing, our church members are giving over and above to support missions through our faith promise program.”

Not only do the members of the church give in financial support to the mission partners, they are also challenged to become involved and to serve at the local, regional and international levels. Last year, the church sent two cross-cultural worker families to the mission field and into international settings in Southwest Asia and Liberia. These two families are supported through funds collected from faith promise all year long.

On Friday, Feb. 26, the Rev. Carolyn Moore from Mosaic UMC in Augusta   will kick off the festivities with her talk at the Opening Celebration and those attending will get the chance to talk, visit and ask questions with individual mission representatives later that evening.

On Saturday, Feb. 27, there will be church-wide community mission service projects for those who want to participate hands-on and serve. Church members can choose from one of four activities in Peachtree City, such as cart path tunnel painting, packing and food sorting at the Midwest food Bank, assisting in home clean-up/repairs for PTCUMC homebound members, or assembling health kits for missionary partners. In the evening there is a dinner and concert planned featuring the headline group of Atlanta BlueGrace as well as other entertainers, food trucks and more.

On Sunday, Feb. 28, there will be one service on Sunday morning, which will start at 10:30 am. The congregation will hear from Dr. Stanley John, a member of the Indian diaspora born, raised in Kuwait and  now director of the Alliance Graduate School of Missions and assistant professor of intercultural studies at Alliance Theological Seminary of Nyack College in New York.

Those who arrive earlier that morning, from 8  – 10:15 a.m. can drink coffee, eat a quick bite and enjoy 15 minute mini presentations at the Missionary Panel Sessions.

A presentation about making a life commitment in missions will be presented Sunday Evening at 6:30 p.m. by the Rev. Olu Brown, lead pastor of Impact church, one of the fastest growing United Methodist churches in the country.

Child care is available throughout the weekend, as well as planned activities for families with school-age  children and teens. Check the website, www.ptcumc.org/gic, for a detailed schedule and updated information about all mission partners who will be in attendance.
