Faculty and staff from the Fayette County School System’s Alternative Program and the Mainstay program are participating in a book study of “Ignorance is No Defense” by J. Tom Morgan. The 10-week study delves into the specifics of juvenile laws in Georgia and how they affect the students served by both programs.

District Attorney Scott Ballard recently stopped by to answer questions from faculty and staff, and to share more information about the juvenile justice system. Also, Ballard, along with Fayetteville Police Officer Lilton Marks, updated the group on efforts being made to curb violence and gang activity in Fayette County.

In the photo, Ballard joins in on a book study taking place at the school system’s Alternative Program that will help faculty and staff better understand juvenile laws and how they impact students in the program.
