David Tolliver McCord of Newnan, 89, (formerly of Fayetteville) passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 after a lengthy struggle with dementia.
He was born June 23, 1926 to Annie and Tolliver McCord in McDonough, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, brothers Verna Lee McCord and Lamar McCord, and sister Ardalia Parrott.
He is survived by his daughters, Elaine (Ken) Pyron of Newnan and Linda (Roger) Jones of Griffin; grandchildren Tracy (Rob) DeMetz of Sharpsburg, Amy (Terry) Widener of Tallahassee, Fla., and Jason Pyron of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren, Carleigh Myatt, Brianna Myatt, Mary Catherine DeMetz, Luke Widener, and Ian Widener.
David was formerly a Captain with the Georgia State Patrol. He retired in 1980 after 30+ years of service, most of which was in Atlanta. He also served our country in the Navy.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City, Ga. The family will receive friends and family prior to the service from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City.
