Newman Youth Council visits Capitol

Recently the Newnan Youth Council visited Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp’s office as well as Gov. Nathan Deal and the Coweta County legislative delegation (Reps. Mike Crane, Lynn Smith, Robert Trammell and David Stover).

They observed the House and Senate sessions that morning and was recognized in the House by Smith, Trammell and Stover.

During lunch the NYC had a chance to ask engaging questions with representatives from the Coweta county delegation. Michael Nix, former NYC alumni, spoke to the group about his role with Gov. Deal’s staff.

In the afternoon the group watched a higher education Committee meeting, where three possible bills were passed in Committee. The day was very busy and informative one for the students.
