Fayette’s middle and high schools had a strong showing at the Griffin RESA Regional Science and Engineering Fair, racking up over 57 percent of the first place victories awarded at the competition, as well as receiving just over 50 percent of the special awards given by companies and various organizations. More than 100,000 students participated in this year’s event.
All first-place winners are now headed to the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair March 31-April 2 in Athens.
Additionally, two students from McIntosh High, Kylie Dickinson and Dorothy Lai, had one of the top two projects in the senior division, and will represent Georgia at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair May 8-13 in Phoenix.

The Griffin RESA Regional Science and Engineering Fair is a competition for middle and high schools in the school systems of Butts, Fayette, Henry, Lamar, Newton, Pike, Spalding, and Upson counties.
