Marc Daniel DeRose, 61, New York City, N.Y.

Marc DeRose, 61, passed away on the evening of December 24, 2015, at Celebration Hospital in Kissimmee, Fla. after a battle with cancer.

Marc was born in Rising City, Neb. to the Reverend Daniel and Lorna DeRose on June 19, 1954.  The young family soon moved to Denver, Colo. where he received his formal education in the Denver Public School system.

Marc was a lifelong learner and a traveler by nature. He had a voracious appetite for the written word and a prolific writer of his observations made through the many adventures he had and the people he met along the way. A true survivor, Marc’s life of self dependence gives meaning to the saying, ‘all who wander are not lost’ and as one of his nieces said, we “..are lucky to have a cool a** big brother” and it is a comfort that he also saw “the beauty of unconditional family love and warmth.”

He was preceded in death by both parents and all four grandparents.

He leaves behind his brother David of Denver; sisters Peg Schaefer (Hartmut) of Haar, Germany; Beth Boisvert (David) of Aurora, Colo. and Annie DeRose-Broeckert (Ken) of Peachtree City, 4 nieces, 3 nephews and 3 grandnieces and 1 grandnephew as well as his best friend since kindergarten – Gordon Pryor of Denver.

The family would like to thank Elizabeth Cunningham of ProjectFIND for her tireless efforts and the entire staff of Celebration Hospital for their outstanding care of our brother.

Arrangements were made by Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home in Kissimmee, Fla. A private service will be held in New York City at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please donations can be made to ProjectFIND.org
