A Tyrone man has been charged with aggravated assault in an incident at his home pertaining to his prescription medications.

Ricky R. Pittman, 31, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and four counts of misdemeanor cruelty to children, according to Tyrone Police spokesman Philip Nelson.

Nelson said the incident occurred on Dec. 4 and involved what began as an argument with Pittman’s mother and brother over his prescription medication which he believed was due him.

Pittman at one point during the argument, angry with his mother over not getting his medication, took a knife from the kitchen and said he would kill her, Nelson said.

Pittman’s brother wrestled the knife from him but Pittman got another knife and threatened his mother again and made aggressive movements toward her, said Nelson, adding that his brother, again, wrestled the knife from him.

Nelson said at that point everyone, including four children, left the house and called police.
