Marching band season has come to an end, but the sun has not set yet for the Fayette County High School Marching Tigers as they prepare to head south to perform in the Florida Citrus Parade.

The Marching Tigers are among some of the top marching bands across the nation invited to participate in the parade in Orlando Dec. 30 at 11 a.m. The parade will be live streamed at www.floridacitrusparade.com and will be videotaped for syndication to more than 100 television stations for broadcast during the New Year’s Day holiday. More than 75 percent of the TV markets in the United States will air the parade, as well as international locations such as Canada, the United Kingdom, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and the military syndicated channel, America One.

The Florida Citrus Parade has grown to become one of the largest sports affiliated parades in the nation, an annual tradition that occurs each year between the Russell Athletic Bowl and the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl games. In addition to its signature floats made of citrus fruit, the parade features spirited high school marching bands from throughout the nation, participating bowl game college marching bands, specialty units, and other exciting performances. Upwards of 3,000 participants take part in the event.
