George Carson Waters, 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loving family, on November 13, 2015.

He proudly served in the United States Navy and was a graduate of St. Leo College. While in the Navy, he met and married the love of his life, Rita Bartley.

He was a dedicated civil servant for many years at Hunter Army Airfield and was also a communicant of St. James Parish.

George was a proud member of the Elks Club and a volunteer fireman, with his son and daughter, at Montgomery Fire station while living on Burnside Island in Savannah.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Carson Waters, brothers Robert Edward Waters and Thomas Julian Waters and his parents, Edwin Henry Waters and Dorothy Crawford Waters.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rita Bartley Waters; daughter, Susan Waters Adcox and her husband Dr. Bill Adcox; five grandchildren, Alex, Andrew, Mary Katherine, Matthew Adcox and Carson Waters; sister Evelyn French (Norman); brother Doty Waters (Nita); sister-in- laws Ouida Waters and Cecile Waters; nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at Fox and Weeks Funeral Home-Hodgson Chapel, Savannah, Ga. from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. with a 6 p.m. Rosary Service. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at St. James Catholic Church with interment to follow at Forest Lawn.
