The connecting road between Robinson Road in Peachtree City and Ebenezer Road east of the city is closed to through traffic because of a bridge washout, according to the Peachtree City Police Department.

The department posted this Thursday afternoon on its Facebook page:

“Spear Road (Robinson Road to Ebenezer) 1:51 p.m. This does not look like an easy fix. The bridge supports appear to be washed out and the road is not passable. Expect extended delays.”

Peachtree City Police spokesman Mark Brown said the washout occurred where Spear Road crosses Camp Creek. The location is just inside the city limits.

City stormwater crews were on the scene Thursday afternoon. Interim City Manager Jon Rorie said crews are assessing the damage, adding that the section of roadway crossing Camp Creek was previoulsy added to the city’s stormwater project list. Given the washout, the project has been elevated and crews will go ahead with the project work.

The section of roadway was re-opened Friday morning.
