Election day on Nov. 3 is less than a week away and it is nearly time for the voters to have their final say on which candidates hold office in the municipal races in Fayetteville, Peachtree City and Tyrone.

The race for mayor in Fayetteville includes incumbent Greg Clifton and Councilman Ed Johnson.

The Post 2 council race features Councilman Mickey Edwards opposed by retired businesswoman Kathleen Brewer.

The Post 1 seat currently held by Johnson saw only one qualifier in retiree Harlan F. Shirley. Mimi Oddo, wife of Councilman Paul Oddo, announced herself as a write-in candidate after the qualifying period ended.

The Post 1 seat in Peachtree City will see a contested race between Planning Commissioner Phil Prebor and homemaker Shayne Robinson. Councilman Eric Imker announced previously that he would not seek re-election to the Post 1 seat.

Tyrone will have two contested races. Mayor Eric Dial will be opposed by consultant Derrick Jackson while the Post 2 council race will feature incumbent Ryan Housley who is being challenged by Tyrone Planning Commissioner Wil James.

Advanced voting is still occurring and will be available through Oct. 30 at the Fayette County Elections Office, at the Peachtree City Library and Tyrone Town Hall. Voting at all locations will be from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Fayette County Elections Office is located at 140 Stonewall Avenue in Fayetteville. The Peachtree City Library is located at 201 Willowbend Road in Peachtree City and the Tyrone Town Hall is located at 881 Senoia Road in Tyrone.
