Developer-friendly council soaks citizens

[Recently] the Fayetteville City Council deleted the requirements for home fire sprinkler systems in the new houses in the Villages of LaFayette Planned Unit Development. When the PUD was approved, concessions were made by the city and developers. The developers received smaller lots and the city received fire sprinkler systems.

Now the city deleted fire sprinklers systems with no concession from the developers. Will the new houses sell for less or will the developer just make more money? This is a real business-friendly council.

As part of the city concessions, they will install fire lanes in the PUD and the trees will be cut to a 14-foot height. I did not know a fire truck was that high. These changes were made without notifying the neighborhood; but the council saw no reason to wait and give the neighborhood notice. I thought a change in the PUD should be publicly posted since it is a zoning change.

It was said that there was a homeowners association, but the builders hire a grass cutting firm who also manages the pool. How can the Villages have a homeowners association when they have no officers and the dues go to the the manager, the builder’s employee?
