The Cotton Pickin’ Fair is a unique art, antiques, & crafts festival created by the Gay Family in 1972 on the family farmstead in Gay, Ga. This fall it is scheduled for Oct. 3-4 and is sponsored by The 1911 Society, Ltd., a Georgia nonprofit corporation supporting sustainable rural development, farm preservation and agri-tourism.

Some 350 exhibits provide an exciting range of excellent choices nestled in and around interesting farm buildings dating from 1891.  Fine art, antiques, pottery, weaving, basket making, blacksmithing, sculpture, wood working, folk art, jewelry, furniture, and gourmet foods are designed and produced by highly skilled artisans from all over the United States.

There will also be entertainment and a variety of Southern foods. Enjoy folk dancers and blue grass music by Due South Band at the Main Stage or visit one of our other stages for a lively marionettes performance, magical illusions and sleight of hand, or the country sounds of the Honey Creek Band.  Local civic clubs, churches, and schools provide a selection of foods from fried chicken to peach fried pies.

A complimentary shuttle from the Fair to Historic Red Oak Covered Bridge built by Horace King in the mid 1840s will be provided for Cotton Pickin’ Fair visitors. Visit the “Together in Meriwether” Booth C18b at the Cotton Pickin’ Fair to visit this historic covered bridge.

The fair will be open each day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults (13-64), $7 for seniors (65 and older), $5 for children (7-12) and free for those 6 or younger.
