THEATRE TECH WORKSHOP for ages 16 & up Saturday, Sept. 17, 5:30-9:30 p.m. on the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center Stage with Arts Center Technical Coordinator Greg Gustin. Admission is free, but participants must be registered by Tuesday, Sept. 15. Learn the history of stage direction. Lighting safety and types of fixtures, electronic control of stage lighting, intelligent lighting controls, designing for the stage, color, intensity, gobos, sound system basics, sound consoles, microphones, speakers, wireless lavalier microphones, rigging, and operation of the fly gallery. FROM CLUTTERED MIND TO FLUTTERED MIND for all ages with Deborah Landry Saturday, Sept. 19, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center Front Lobby. Drop by any time during the workshop to help create a community-based film that will be premiered in the Theatre Oct. 10-11 all day during MeccaFest. Bring your cluttered mind and we will fill it with all things that flutter with inspiration from the Carrollton Greenbelt. During the workshop you will be given instructions on how to create small works of art using velum and markers and pens. Your drawings will then become part of a collaborative film. The Beginner Guitar class will provide the music for the film. Call 770-838-1083 for more information. This workshop is free and no registration is required.

TRASH TO TREASURE WORKSHOP for ages 7-12 Saturday, Oct. 3, 9 a.m.-noon at the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center in Classroom #4. Each participant should bring ten pieces of clean trash to upcycle into an art project. Instructor is Alan Kuykendall. Admission is free, but participants must pre-register by noon Friday, Oct. 2, at 770-838-1083.

THEATRE AUDITION WORKSHOP for ages 15-adult with professional actor Chris Lewis, Saturday, Oct. 3, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center on stage. Get an idea of what the professional theatre world is like and understand the art of auditioning. All materials are provided but you may bring your own up-tempo song and ballad and/or a monologue if you prefer. Participants will perform mock auditions and receive feedback. 3D CHALK ART WORKSHOP for teens 12-19 Friday, Oct. 9, 4-7 p.m. with Mike Macaulay at the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center in Classroom 1. Fee is $20 (supplies included). Learn all the tips and secrets from our 2015 MeccaFest Guest Artist and take home a 4×4 plywood 3-D chalk keepsake. (All participant works displayed during the festival).
