The city of Newnan received a disaster reimbursement grant of $34,634.65 for cleanup and recovery costs associated with the ice storm that hit the city in mid-February 2014.

Georgia Emergency Management Agency/Homeland Security presented the check to city officials and Coweta County Emergency Management Agency Director Jay Jones.

The grant covers eligible debris removal and staffing costs resulting from the storm that left downed trees and power lines and scattered debris throughout the city, leaving many residents without power.

Coweta was one of 45 counties that received a Presidential Disaster Declaration in March 2014 due to the extent of the ice storm damage.
