Heritage Christian Church in Fayetteville hosted its eighth annual WinShape Day Camp, July 13-17. During the week-long day camp, over 450 campers in first through sixth grade participated.

During the camp, the children had an opportunity to pick from 21 different skills and activities.

In addition, they participated in a small group “team time” and in an interactive large group time.

The week concluded with “Chick Fil-A Friday Family Fun Day,” which allowed families to attend and experience some of the WinShape elements with the children.

“Heritage Christian is always excited to host WinShape camp each year on our church campus,” said Keisha Williams, Heritage camp host. “Through camp, we seek to bring as many unreached children and parents to know Christ and to enrich the lives of those who already know Him as their Lord and Savior. This year, 39 campers gave their life to Christ.”

Williams said a “true God moment” during the camp included talking with her son, Cooper, and bringing him to Christ as well as two other kids.

According to Williams, “What is unique about WinShape is that the counselors truly care about the campers and give their full attention to the kids who attend.”

As it had done in the past, the church extended an opportunity to attend the camp to children across Fayette County who might otherwise not be able to participate. In March, members hosted a benefit dinner to raise scholarship funds. Some  100 children attended camp on scholarship this year. Camp staff included Heritage church members, 34 WinShape staff members and more than 50 volunteers.

Heritage’s senior pastor, Doug Fultz, said, “WinShape Camp is one of the highlights of the year for our church family. The counselors are well trained and courteous. We couldn’t have asked for a better group of camp counselors this year. We  look  forward to hosting again next year.”

Next year’s WinShape Day camp at Heritage is planned for July 11-15, 2016.
