The Peachtree City Council on Aug. 6 will consider using eminent domain to acquire six stormwater easements for the Golf View Drainage Improvements Project.
City Attorney Ted Meeker in a July 29 letter said, “With the exception of one parcel, the owners have agreed to the value of the easement. The exception has not responded in any way to the city’s communication. The issue with these parcels has been either the non-responsiveness of the lenders, or in one instance the number of lien holders.”
Meeker said city staff view the use of eminent domain as a last resort to obtain the easements and to be able to proceed with the stormwater project.
Meeker said the easements have been appraised and the value will be deposited with the Fayette County Superior Court if the council adopts the resolutions.
The six properties include three on Oakmount Drive, two on Golfview Drive and one on Pinemount Drive.
The 213 Oakmount Drive property includes an area of 4,422 sq. ft. of permanent easement appraised at $4,810.
The 212 Oakmount Drive property includes an area of 2,380 sq. ft. of permanent easement appraised at $2,873.
The 215 Oakmount Drive property includes a 5,223 sq. ft. permanent easement and a 1,519 sq. ft. temporary easement. The easement area was appraised at $6,245.
The 305 Pinemount Drive property includes an easement area of 2,687 sq. ft. with an appraised value of $2,566.
The 617 Golfview Drive includes a permanent easement area of 1,130 sq. ft. and a temporary easement area of 544 sq. ft. with an appraised value of $1,358.
The 618 Golfview Drive property includes a permanent easement area of 2,679 sq. ft. and a temporary easement area of 1,054 sq. ft. with an appraised value of $3,098.
