On Saturday, July 11, from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., The Olivet Church will host a “Lunch and Learn” seminar, “Cover Your Covering,” subject matter expertise from Olivet’s own Charles Rambo, a retired lieutenant – deputy sheriff who serves as the emergency management coordinator.

The seminar is for educational purposes and open only to pastors, armor bearers and security ministries. The press is welcome to cover the event.

Rambo and other public safety experts will cover topics such as:

• Faith-based emergency management planning;

• Responding to active shooter situations in the worship environment;

• Less than lethal defensive tactics for protecting pastors during church related events.

“As we are ‘Rising Up to Build,’” a church spokesperson said, “the Olivet Church has fully incorporated and benefitted from this Faith Based Emergency Management concept. We are committed to protecting the safety of all who come to fellowship and worship with us and to minimize deadly incidents from occurring in our worship environment and church property. The Olivet Church has deep historical roots in the civil rights movement and addressing social justice issues. We understand now more than ever the importance of protecting the worship environment  against the threats of domestic terrorism.”

Rambo served an impressive 27-year career as a lieutenant with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office in Atlanta. Currently, he serves as the emergency management coordinator for The Olivet Church in Fayetteville, Georgia and advisor to local pastors.

He has extensive training not limited to: emergency incident command, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), gang intelligence, criminal investigations, emergency medical first responder, and dignitary protection.

He also has competed the United States Department of Homeland Security Intelligence Analysis course.

Through his education and experience, Rambo developed Faith Based Emergency Management to provide guidance on how to protect the church in the 21st century.

In 2014, he provided critical data and lobbied the Georgia General Assembly concerning the language in HB 60 to ban weapons in a house of worship.

He also has provided dignitary protection for several well-known pastors, gospel recording artists and entertainers.
