Two Peachtree City young people are among eight in the Southeastern United States who have received Interfor’s Tolleson-Wood Family Scholarship, which will provide financial assistance to support their academic and career goals.

Kayla Barnes and Ke’yahn Johnson have received $2,000 each. They were chosen for their academic achievements, volunteer and community contributions, and educational and career goals. All of the recipients have parents or guardians who work in Interfor’s US Southeast Operations.

“The Tolleson-Wood Family Scholarship supports our commitment to our employees and the communities where we operate,” said Joe Rodgers, senior vice president of U.S. Southeast operations. “These students have exciting futures ahead of them and we are proud to support their academic goals. We wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.”

Barnes, who attends Providence Christian School, plans to go to the University of Georgia to pursue an English major and a consumer economics minor. She is a member of her school’s S.A.D.D. club (Students Against Destructive Decisions) where they collaborate with a variety of charities within the community.

Johnson who attends Martha Ellen Stilwell School of the Arts, plans to go to Alabama State University to pursue a degree in business management and become a licensed cosmetologist and barber, with a long-term goal of opening her own salon and spa. Ke’yahn is involved with hunger and clothing drives in her community.

The Tolleson-Wood Family Scholarship recognizes the Tolleson-Wood family’s significant contribution to the lumber industry, local communities and well-being of its employees in Georgia.
