The Fayette County Civitan Club’s 23rd Annual Old Courthouse 5K is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, with the race starting at 8 a.m.

Runners will start at the Fayette County Senior Center next to the Justice Center at 4 Center Drive in Fayetteville.

Proceeds from the run will aid organizations serving medically fragile citizens of the community, such as the Joseph Sams School, ExceptionalOPS, Fayette County Special Olympics, and Southwest Christian Care (Hospice, Hope House, Senior Care, Spiritual Care).

As many members of the club are veterans and have served their nation proudly with distinction, during war time and at peace, the Civitans have made the decision to contribute to the Wounded Warriors Project as well.

The run is an open race to runners at all levels who desire exercise and fun while helping community organizations and the special needs children of Fayette County. There will be door prizes, refreshments and T-shirts for all registered participants.

Day-of-race registration begins at 7:15 a.m. in front of the Fayette Senior Center. Pre-registration is open online at http://www.active.com/fayetteville-ga/running/distance-running-races/fayette-county-civitans-23rd-annual-old-courthouse-5k-2015?int=.

All race finishers will be entered into a drawing for some outstanding door prizes furnished by some of our corporate sponsors.

Sponsors include Chick-fil-A Headquarters, Chick-fil-A Towne Center, Action Tire Company, Digestive Healthcare of Georgia, Coweta-Fayette EMC, Fairburn Ready Mix, Inc., Kroger (Banks Crossing), Allen Chiropractic, Broadway Diner, Delta Community Credit Union, DuckBack Roofing, J & E Glass, Play-It-Again-Sports – Fayetteville, Vic’s AutoCare Center (NAPA) and Walker Flooring – Fayetteville.
