Northside Hospital is teaming up with Bicycle Ride Across Georgia (BRAG) to offer convenient mobile digital mammography screenings to women in Coweta County.
Northside is the presenting sponsor of BRAG, June 7-13 in the Newnan, Carrollton and LaGrange areas. In conjunction with the ride, Northside Hospital’s ScreenAtlanta mobile mammography van and additional health screenings will be at Newnan High School Wednesday, June 10, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
One in eight women will get breast cancer sometime during her lifetime. Early detection is the best protection. Beginning at age 40, women should schedule annual mammograms. Northside Hospital is the leader in the fight against breast cancer, diagnosing and treating more cases of the disease than any other community hospital in the Southeast.
The ScreenAtlanta van is a community service of Northside Hospital and makes access to screening mammograms easier. The van offers the same state-of-the-art mammography equipment available at Northside’s hospitals and outpatient imaging centers, as well as Computer-Aided Detection which offers a “second set of eyes” to radiologists by flagging areas of potential concern. All mammograms on the ScreenAtlanta van are performed by certified female technologists, in a private and comfortable setting.
In addition to the mobile mammography van, free screenings for cholesterol, blood pressure/body weight, cancer risk and diabetes will be offered.
Appointments are required and participants must meet American Cancer Society and Northside Hospital screening guidelines to qualify. Appointments typically last 15 to 20 minutes and insurance can be filed. Financial assistance is available. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 770-667-4400.
