Nine students from public schools in Fayette County have received $2,500 National Achievement Scholarship awards from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for 2015.
Previously, the most students honored this way in a single year was four in 2004.
This year’s group is among 700 outstanding black American high school seniors in the nation who are $2,500 National Achievement Scholarship winners.
Fayette’s 2015 National Achievement Scholars are Tochukwu Awachie, Sandy Creek High; David Brunskole, Starr’s Mill High; Taylor Brunskole, Starr’s Mill High; Byron Daniel, Whitewater High; Taylor Howell, Sandy Creek High; Lionel Jones III, Whitewater High; Kali Williams, Sandy Creek High; Arin Stowman, McIntosh High; and Samuel Brown, Sandy Creek High.
