The bench in front of the old Fayette County Courthouse in Fayetteville received needed rehab work last week by county staff. As historic as the courthouse, the bench was installed several decades ago at the instruction of Fayette County Historian Carolyn Cary. “The bench was originally installed in the old Courthouse as the main roof beam in 1825. When the courthouse was made into 3 floors, from the original two floors, that beam was placed outside as a bench,” said Cary. Photo/Brian Wismer.
