Lauren Nicole Gainey, 21, of Peachtree City, passed away April 13, 2015.
Lauren graduated from Starr’s Mill High School in 2012 and currently was a Junior at Georgia College, majoring in Chemistry (pre-pharm), with a minor in Spanish. Lauren led an active life of giving her time to help others. She volunteered in Vacation Bible School, GC Miracle, Girl Scouts and Bobcats Against Hunger. She also taught Sunday School, mentored and tutored students at local elementary schools and through Georgia College Early College Mentor program. Additionally, Lauren was a part of many organizations such as Key Club, Beta Club, the American Chemical Society, and Baptist Collegiate Ministries. She previously worked at CVS, Primo Inc., and the Starr’s Mill Child Development Center.
Lauren is survived by her parents Jeffrey & Karen Gainey; her brother Cole; sisters Carly and Regan; paternal grandparents Leslie & Peggy Gainey; maternal grandparents Bob & Beth Christie; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A funeral service will take place Thursday, April 16, 2015, at 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Peachtree City, with Rev. Danny Joiner and Pastor Lee Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at Westminster Cemetery. During her life, Lauren had a passion for helping others, especially younger children. Lauren supported the Save the Children Organization. Her family feels that in lieu of flowers, Lauren would want people to continue to support her passion for helping children by donating to Save the Children at www.savethechildren.org .
