Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Newnan will host its first Easter Drive-Thru, “Forty Hours that Changed the World,” on Thursday, April 2 through Saturday, April 4 from 6 – 9:30 p.m. each night at the church.
The event will be similar to the annual Christmas Drive Thru Nativity presented by the church for the past few years.
The Easter Drive Thru Nativity will present the Easter story, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, in nine live scenes. The scenes include Last Supper, Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus before Pilate, the road to the crucifixion and the Crucifixion among others.
“For the past few years, we have shared with the community the real meaning of Christmas with our Drive Thru Nativity,” said Paul Griffin, project chairman and Cornerstone UMC member. “Now with the Easter Drive Thru we want to give the community the opportunity to see, hear and experience the story of Jesus’s death and resurrection. Just like the Drive Thru Nativity, the Easter Drive Thru will be presented at no charge.”
Each vehicle going through the Easter Drive Thru will receive a narration CD at the entrance of the drive-thru. The CD will guide each vehicle through the nine-scene journey depicting the death and resurrection of Jesus. A nightly cast and crew of 150-plus people will help tell the story. Coffee and hot chocolate will be served throughout the evening under the church pavilion.
The Easter Drive-Thru will take place on the church grounds at 2956 Ga. Highway 154 in Newnan (at Thomas Crossroads, the intersection of Ga. Highways 154 and 34 in Coweta County).
Easter Drive-Thru dates and times are Thursday, April 2, Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4, all from 6 – 9:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.cornerstoneumc.com.
