A College Park man has been charged with vehicular homicide in connection with a May 30, 2014 wreck on Ga. Highway 314 near the Fayette Pavilion in Fayetteville that claimed the life of one child and resulted in injuries to three others in his vehicle.

Christopher W. Thomas, Jr., 39, of College Park, was charged with first degree vehicular homicide and DUI alcohol, according to Fayette County Jail records.

Fayetteville Det. Mike Whitlow said Thomas was driving a 1992 Toyota Camry which was traveling northbound on Hwy. 314 at the time of the mid-morning accident and was attempting to make a left hand turn onto Beckett Lane when it was struck by a south bound 2001 GMC Sierra pick-up truck driven by Calvin Seth Norman, 23, of Fayetteville.

There were four juvenile passengers inside the Camry, ages 3, 4, 6, and 8, all of whom were taken to area hospitals. The 6-year-old male was pronounced deceased of his injuries at Piedmont-Fayette Hospital, Whitlow said.

The Fayetteville Police Department Traffic Team and Georgia State Patrol Accident Reconstruction Team conducted an exhaustive investigation of the accident and Thomas was determined to be the at-fault driver in the accident.

Thomas is currently in the Fayette County Jail.

Norman was arrested at the scene on May 30, 2014 and charged with DUI drugs.
