The McIntosh Chiefs varsity boys basketball team rode up to Jonesboro Tuesday night and dismantled the Mundy’s Mill Tigers 86-61 for their 17th region win without a loss, improving to 24-0 overall.
Four players scored in double figures for the Chiefs, who never trailed in the game.
Jordan Lyons led the way with 21 points and Chase Walter added 19. The two scored 10 points each in the first quarter as McIntosh built a double-digit lead in the opening four minutes. The Tigers stayed within striking distance in the second quarter, cutting the lead to seven at one point.
That was as close as it got. Leading 39-30 at the half, the Chiefs built the lead to 24 late in the third quarter.
Will Washington scored 15 on the night and Phillip Venson scored 10. Dishon Lowery tallied six points while working through foul trouble.
Ulysses Brown, Terrance Gaines and Jemal Ahmed combined for 15 points off the bench, with each player nailing a three-pointer.
The Chiefs close out the regular season Friday at home against Northgate, which is 3-21 overall and 1-16 in region play.
McIntosh already has the top seed in Region 4-AAAAA going into next week’s tournament at Drew. Mundy’s Mill is the defending region champion.
