Fayetteville resident and State Rep. Ronnie Mabra (D-District 63) has been appointed to the Georgia Child Support Commission by Gov. Nathan Deal.

“I am honored that Gov. Deal selected me to serve as a member of this commission,” said Mabra, who is also the newly elected vice chair of the Fayette County Legislative Delegation and the secretary of the Clayton County Legislative Delegation. District 63 includes portions of Clayton, Fayette, and Fulton counties.

“I look forward to working with the other members of the commission as we strive to always do what is best for the children in Georgia and ensure that they receive child support that is reflective of today’s cost of living standards,” Mabra added.

The commission is charged with studying the effectiveness of Georgia’s child support guidelines. It is responsible for conducting a comprehensive review of child support guidelines, economic conditions, and all matters relevant to maintaining effective and efficient child support to determine the amount of basic child support obligation. Any changes in the child support obligation table must be approved by the General Assembly before going into effect.

Mabra was elected in 2012, and currently serves on the Code Revision, Governmental Affairs, Higher Education, and Judiciary committees.
