Congratulations, citizens of Fayette County! You have given yourself the greatest Christmas gifts of all.

Because of your devotion to the community and your willingness to fund it, our county ranks as the healthiest place to live in Georgia. Our municipalities are ranked in the top of the safest places to live.

We rank among the best places to raise a family in the United States of America. We are one of the best places to live in retirement. Your schools consistently rank in the top two in Georgia. Your quality of life ranks among the best in the United States of America. Your county is a magnet for international businesses and many of those corporations have expanded in the last several years.

The county and one municipality have the highest bond rating possible, AAA. You will not find a county anywhere where you get more service per tax dollar than Fayette County.

You are a magnificent group on independent thinkers and “going with the status quo” has never been on our menu. More of our voters came to the polls in the recent mid-term election than any other county in Georgia because we care.

The Town of Tyrone was ranked as the “happiest” place to live in Georgia and Peachtree City was in the top 10. You own a golf cart because you have over 100 miles of gorgeous tree-lined multi-use paths to ride it.

You share your community with popular entertainers, pro athletes and corporate CEOs.

Your children play on nationally ranked sports teams and go to the finest colleges and universities in the world. When they marry and have children, they come back to live in Fayette County — they’re smart.

The circle of life in Fayette County is one incredible generation leaving behind a remarkable community for the next even more incredible generation.

I blame each and every citizen in Fayette County for our success. You did this to yourself; congratulations. Get out there and have another exceptionally prosperous New Year!
