This holiday season, Piedmont Fayette Hospital is teaming up with Piedmont Newnan Hospital and physician practices in Coweta and Fayette counties to support the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.

Piedmont “elves” have been busy delivering collection boxes throughout the two counties. So far, more than 100 boxes have been distributed to 70 locations. Toys will be collected through Dec. 16.

Toys for Tots is collaborating with local organizations in Coweta and Fayette to ensure these toys are distributed to local families in need.

“We’re excited to see our caregivers in Coweta and Fayette counties embrace the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. We’re especially grateful that all of the donations made at our hospitals and physicians offices will help provide a better Christmas for children right here in our own communities,” said Julie Hanson, manager of physician outreach at Piedmont Fayette Hospital and Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

The mission of Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is to assist the U.S. Marine Corps in providing a tangible sign of hope to economically disadvantaged children at Christmas.

The primary goal of the foundation is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them into becoming responsible, productive and patriotic citizens.

Piedmont is asking that new, unwrapped toys for children ages newborn to 14 be donated at either Piedmont Fayette Hospital, Piedmont Newnan Hospital or at area physician offices.

On Dec. 16, a “Collection Celebration” will be held at Piedmont Heart, 20 Francis Way, Sharpsburg between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The community is invited to come out and celebrate with members of the U.S. Marines. Santa Claus will be on hand for photos.
