Members of the Chair-ity Event Volunteer Committee are hard at work preparing for this year’s holiday celebration. The annual fundraiser for The Children’s Village at Christian City is now in its eighth year and is made possible through the efforts of dedicated volunteers, community leaders, and local artists.

“We’re really excited about this year’s event,” said Carla Waters, chair-ity volunteer. “So many chairs have already been donated, and our sponsor list is growing each week.” This year’s sponsors include Nestle Purina, Pruitt Health, GreyStone Power, and Communication Cabling Specialists, Inc. (Diamond Level); Georgia Power, Delta Air Lines, Saben Inc., BB&T/Gary Laggis, Hoshizaki America, Inc., (Platinum Level), plus many more.

The Chair-ity Event will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4 at The Dolce Atlanta-Peachtree in Peachtree City.

Tickets are $25 in advance, and can be purchased online at www.christiancity.org. Dress is business casual for this drop-in event and ticket prices cover both food and drink. The evening will include delicious hors d’oeuvres and refreshments, a live jazz performance by the Peachtree Pops Ensemble, and holiday shopping in a magical Winter Wonderland setting.

“It’s hard to believe we’re less than a month out from event night. Things are coming together really well and it’s all because of the hard work of so many volunteers and others who support this cause,” Waters continued.

The Children’s Village at Christian City is a 501(c)3 non-profit located in Union City. Since 1965 it has offered life services and a safe haven for children in crisis, aged 5-17.

The majority who come to the program are victims of abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Some are placed through State custody, others come through private placements, and some come through the Safe Place program for runaway and homeless youth.

Christian City offers them a welcoming home environment, loving house parents, and a chance to heal and grow.

“We’re so grateful for all that the Volunteer Committee is doing. This event is always such a blessing for the children at The Children’s Village. It’s because of the dedication of the Hosts, Sponsors, Volunteers and Artists that children in need will receive the care they so desperately need,” said Ashley Bonner, Fund Development Specialist for Christian City.

Hosts for the 2014 Chair-ity Event include Mayor & Mrs. Gary Laggis, Senator & Mrs. Marty Harbin, Michael & Amy Burnett, Congressman Lynn & Joan Westmoreland, Representative & Mrs. Matt Ramsey, Chris Allessio, Mayor & Mrs. Vince Williams, and many others.

Items already donated for this year’s silent auction include getaway trips, themed baskets, collectibles, and more. And as always, a highlight of the evening will be the hand-painted chairs. Themes represented in this year’s selection include Alice in Wonderland, and University of Georgia.

“It’s going to be a magical night,” said Waters. “We hope the community will turn out for this festive evening that touches the lives of so many children.”
